Hi everyone.

Just a couple of quick questions which might turn out to be a bit pointless.

I had a colonostomy today which the doc said was normal, but he toook some random biopsies with a routine review planned. -naturally I'm worried about the results. Has anyone had the same experience? I suppose I should have asked why he had taken them. Does anyone know if RA can cause inflammation in the colon?

Hi Maria,

My sister recently had a colonoscopy and they took biopsies even though they said everything looked normal. They told her they take them as routine just to make sure all is well, and at the follow up appointment said the results were normal.
Hope this helps to put your mind at rest, they did insist the biopsies were routine.
Hope your results are as good as hers were!

Love, Doreen xx

Hi Maria
I had a an endoscopy (top end) and they took biopsies which they do as routine.

They check for signs of things like coeliac disease (gluten intolerance) which show up in these biopsies.

I am sure if all looked OK, It will be fine. it's good that they are thorough.

Take good care,
Liz

Hi!

I had to have a camera in the top end in the summer and in the last couple of wks I was in hospital they did one up the bum... lovely!

they took some biopsies.

they havent even arranged an appt for the results because if there is an issue they will arrange one.

No? I dont believe that either so I rang the GP today and asking for the result- they dont have it.... so we wait again. Glad no one is ill or anything!

Hi Maria, I also had the tube up the bum and down the throat last summer to investigate the anemia, and they took a biopsy of a very tiny polyp they found, thinking back I think they notified my GP that eveything was fine but it was probably at least a couple of months later by which time I'd fogotton about it. So it sounds as if it is probably routine.
Best wishes
Sheila

Hi everyone

Thanks for the replies- it's put my mind at rest.

Jenni- sorry you are being messed around about results. I often get that when I ring for bloods- even though it says on the top of the form that a copy is to be sent to my gp!

Liz- thanks for the info about gluten intolerance- I've been thinking that something like that might be the reason for my problems.
